Over two very special days in July, Kaulig Giving had the privilege of joining our friends at Special Spaces Cleveland to help transform a bedroom into a place of comfort, joy, and imagination for 7-year-old Claire and her family.
Claire is navigating a diagnosis of B-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, and throughout her childhood cancer journey, home has become even more important. Special Spaces creates dream bedroom makeovers for children facing cancer, providing a space where they can rest, play, recharge, and simply be kids.
On Day One, our volunteer team rolled up their sleeves and got to work! From painting and assembling furniture to organizing, cleaning, and preparing décor, every task brought the rooms one step closer to the big reveal.
Claire and her big sister, Kinley, chose a woodland creatures theme for their shared dream bedroom. Whimsical woodland touches, personalized details, and plenty of thoughtful surprises transformed the room into a space uniquely theirs. Just down the hall, little sister Mae’s bedroom received a special refresh of its own, making sure she was part of the experience, too.
Day Two was all about the finishing touches before the moment everyone had been waiting for – the reveal! Watching Claire and her family walk through the door and experience their new spaces for the first time was something our team won’t soon forget. The smiles, excitement, jumping up and down, and quieter moments taking everything in beautifully captured why Special Spaces’ mission is so meaningful.
A bedroom may seem like just another room, but during a childhood cancer journey, it can become so much more. It can be a place to escape, recharge, laugh, make memories, and find comfort after long days of treatment.
We’re incredibly grateful to Special Spaces Cleveland for welcoming us to be part of Claire’s story and to our Kaulig Companies volunteers who poured so much care into every detail. Most importantly, we’re wishing Claire and her entire family many happy memories in their beautiful new spaces.
