Scott and Julie Mawaka, a couple from Hudson, Ohio, created The Scott & Julie Mawaka Charitable Foundation in 2004. In an effort to bring awareness and funding to non-profit organizations in the Cleveland-Akron area, they began by hosting an annual golf outing at Shaker Heights Country Club (Shaker Heights, OH) to benefit local charities. With the generous support from family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors, The Mawaka Foundation raised over $500,000.00 in donations. The Mawaka Foundation, originally created as a pass-through organization, is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Foundation.
